Discover insights and updates from the Kirkwood Timber Frame team
Welcome to the first Timber Times newsletter! Wow, where have the last 7 months gone?! Since our launch last August, Kirkwood Timber Frame has been a hive of activity and we are well on our way to establishing ourselves as a key supplier and partner for the manufacture of timber frame homes in Scotland.
I'm extremely proud of the team we have assembled - their energy and enthusiasm is why we are already seeing real success in our expansion into the external housing market. I also want to extend a big thank you to customers who have supported us in our journey so far. We couldn't do this without you, and your support has been amazing.
We have started planning an official launch for our newly expanded factory in Sauchen, as we want to give our customers and partners a full tour of our new technology, and showcase how we craft our timber kits. Watch this space for updates coming soon...
Since our launch last year, the team has been incredibly busy and the business has grown significantly. Here are a few of the team's top highlights...
Recruited key roles into the business and have developed our ethos and vision for the company
Completed two major extensions to the timber frame factory building
Installed and commissioned our state-of-the-art production line
Implemented a Quality Management System with a view to achieving certification for ISO 9001:2015
Pressing ahead with our closed panel wall line and development of our closed panel system
Further significant investment in timber cutting machinery to support our growth in production output
Developed our soon-to-be-launched digital hub for our self-build customers, to support them on their journey through building their own home
Soon to move into our new offices adjacent the factory which will allow further development of our offer including a product showroom
Following the discussions at last year's COP26, and the goal to achieve net-zero in Scotland by 2045, building homes that are more environmentally friendly has become a priority for many people.
In each newsletter, we'll introduce you to one of our team members, so you can find out about their roles, passions and why they chose to work at Kirkwood Timber Frame.
Steven started his career in the construction industry in his hometown of Forfar, working at a truss manufacturing plant as a Trainee Truss Technician.
He joined us in October 2021 to head up our technical team and brings over 22 years’ experience to his role as Project Manager.
Steven is passionate about the training and development of younger members of staff and passing on knowledge to the wider team to enable them to progress. He’s also very focused on customer service and quality, striving to be known as the best to deal with and always providing a top quality product and service.
When he’s not involved in all things timber frame, he enjoys the great outdoors - running, cycling and hillwalking - that’s when his son and daughter let him out of course!
Delivering an exceptional experience to each of our customers is our number one priority. With this in mind, we will soon be launching a digital hub for self-builders, designed to enhance your journey with Kirkwood Timber Frame - from your initial kick-off meeting, right through to your kit arriving on-site and our ongoing aftercare. This platform will provide clarity and confidence through each stage of your journey with us, streamline communications with our team, and ultimately enhance your overall experience.
